Glacier
Glacier
With the low tables Glacier, Patricia Urquiola once again succeeds in giving new, vibrant life to glass. The plates are crossed by an irregular texture which recall the irregular strata of glaciers: marks, variations and depths that alter the perception of the material and enhance its relationship with the light. The glass loses its uniformity and gets a denser and more solid appearance. At the same time, the exploration about the transformation of the material is accompanied by a chromatic one and introduces the contrast between solidity and fluidity: the sheets of transparent colored glass seem to rest and “melt” on the underlying structure, creating a soft and flexible visual effect, while maintaining the constructive precision and formal control.
